Introduction of the iPhone X

An earlier flagship model of the iPhone. Introduced in 2017 along with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, the iPhone X has a 5.8″ OLED screen. Its very small bezel causes the X to look very different than all previous iphones, even the iPhone 8. Touch ID fingerprint recognition was replaced with Face ID, enabling a glance to unlock the device or check out with Apple Pay.

Software Integration

The X integrates iOS 11 and uses Apple’s A11 CPU with four energy-efficient cores and two high-performance cores for gaming. Wireless charging was also added, and the phone can be half charged in 30 minutes using a USB Type C cable. A telephoto camera offers optical image stabilization (OIS). For fun, a dozen different animated emojis (Animojis) can emulate the user’s facial expressions.

There’s no headphone jack, which continues to be a disappointment on every phone that omits it, but that’s the price you pay for a bezel-less screen with a notch at the top. Around the sides, you’ll find the volume buttons, the mute switch, and the sleep / wake button. The removal of the home button means there are a few new button combinations to remember: pressing the top volume button and the sleep / wake button together takes a screenshot. Holding the sleep button opens Siri. And you turn the phone off by holding either of the volume buttons and the sleep button for several seconds.
